killed the motor. Timing chain tensioner or timing chain went. It's being towed to Adam's Automotive. I'm awaiting the diagnosis. I don't feel like paying for swapping tensioner and chain and sure as hell don't want the measily k20a3 back if there are bent valves. Unfortunately I do not have the tools and time to swap it myself. Hope Johhny goes easy on me for labor on a motor swap.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll mess with it tomorrow before work and see if I can get the easy-out bit out of it. Then maybe hammer a larger size torx bit into it like suggested above.

okay, I can update what I really did to my ride today...

For sure bent 3 intake valves, maybe 4
Failed timing chain tensioner
Messed timing chain
Possibly wrecked cam gears

Motor swap to come soon

Damn man sucks to hear...

Wait the Exedy clutch clip...it's that a common problem? I've heard that happen before on Evo-M i think?

strip it down more, pull the engine harness apart some to get ready for routing on GTE motor, test fitted new FMIC kit that came in today, clean some of the engine bay also.

Pulling seats out, and cleaning the hell out of the interior. Then will probably wash, polish, and wax it.

If it doesn't run, it'll be clean, damn it.

2002 EP3. It won't be anything fast or impressive, just intake, raceheader, exhaust and k-pro. But I am torn on whether or not I should go with stage 4 clutch because I plan on a supercharger and small shot of nitrous down the road or just an exedy oe replacement for now to keep initial costs down.

Assuming you have used a stage 4 clutch before, id go with the exedy for now.
If not you should definitely get the stage 4 before you supercharge to get used to it.
I learned to drive a 5speed on my own, then attemped driving a stage5, was an epic failboat.

I got a ticket in my car today. Exhaust noise violation. I think she was gonna let me go with a warning till i laughed at her when she tried explaining to me why I was pulled over. What made this even more funny is when she had to get her policewoman manual out of the trunk bc she had no idea what statute I had violated but could tell me how illegal my exhaust was. Not the best way to spend 116 dollars but it was funny to me.
